Secretariat and members

Please do contact the tribunal if you cannot find what you are looking for on this website or if anything is unclear.

Members

The tribunal president is the judicial lead of the RPT Wales. The tribunal also has a vice president. The president is responsible for the members and for tribunal decisions. The tribunal also has; lawyer chairpersons, professional members who are chartered surveyors and lay members.

Tribunal lawyer chairpersons are appointed by the Lord Chancellor. The president and vice president are nominated by Welsh Ministers from those members appointed by the Lord Chancellor. Professional and lay members are appointed by Welsh Ministers.

Tribunal hearings are usually attended by a lawyer chairperson, who conducts the proceedings and advises the tribunal on matters of law. The lawyer chairperson will write decisions and set directions where necessary. The hearings are also usually attended by a professional member and in some cases a lay member.
